1. 1. We saw the National Day campaign you did with Netflix and we loved it! Tell us more about #DefendingDiversity.

Thank you! When they approached me about that, they actually gave me the option to choose what it was that I wanted to defend, and based on my personal experiences in the past I thought it apt to defend ‘Diversity’. It’s important to embrace the fact that the human race is beautiful for its diverse genetic makeup, and we are all unique in the fact that we are different. Defending diversity is also about learning how to adapt to other cultures, to learn about their values and beliefs, to understand and appreciate the fact that each culture is distinct in their own way and that every culture deserves an equal amount of respect and recognition.

2. What has been your most memorable shoot you have done so far?

I’ve had lots of memorable shoots but if I had to pick it would still be the Marc Jacobs one!

3. Have you had major brands come knocking at your door since the Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign?

  • Lux – TVC + print ads which were only aired & published in Europe (shot late 2016 last year)
  • Shunji Matsuo + Shiseido 2016 – for a lookbook catalogue published in their salons all over Asia
  • Sephora x Marc Jacobs Beauty – Digital Video for their website (2016)
  • Adidas – for their social media campaign (late 2016)
  • Philadelphia Cream Cheese – short ad to market an event launch (2016)
  • Carrie K x Revasseur – Disney Runway show to promote Alice In Wonderland movie (2016)

4. Do you think beauty standards have changed for the better?

It’s definitely changed for the better! More people are speaking up about it and bringing awareness to different issues on beauty which is great. It’s also amazing to see brands with a strong influence paving the way for such change. For example ASOS’ latest move to post the pictures of their models un-retouched garnered so much positive response. It’s so important because young girls look up to these standards and it is the responsibility of anyone who has an influential pull to set an example. I know because I was once a young girl who was so conscious about how I looked, in comparison to what I see being presented in the fashion industry.

5. What change do you want to see in the fashion industry?

The fashion industry is already changing in many positive ways, and I can only hope for it to stay that way. It’s also up to us as a society to affect that change, (which is already happening as we can see by how much we speak up about issues), so as long as we keep evolving positively in this way then things will be a-okay 🙂

6. Pick one: Leggings or yoga pants?

Leggings! but I must say I do have a knack of making one seem like the other haha!
