With the major success of her recent debut album, SweetSexySavage, Kehlani is on the fast track to becoming one of R&B’s biggest names. Other artists have noticed as well, with Eminem and Cardi B amongst the long list of artists who have recently collaborated with the artist.
Whether it’s her signature “playful tomboy” aesthetic or a sultry 80’s vixen vibe, Kehlani has earned her stripes as a true fashion chameleon. This month, we’re taking a look back at some of the artist’s most inspired music video looks for some street style inspiration.
Kehlani – Honey:
The perfect example of Kehlani’s signature tomboy style, Honey, features the singer in a sweeter, softer light. Instead of going on the traditional route, Kehlani puts her own spin on a sweet countryside look with a pair of bulky overalls layered over a bralette-style crop top. For a rugged edge, top it off with a flat boot like Kehlani did.
G-Eazy & Kehlani – Good Life:
We loved the classic crop top and blue jeans combination Kehlani wore in this music video. Expertly elevate a simple pairing like this with pieces that feature distressed or modern detailing, like the ringlets on the bandage crop we chose for this look.
Charlie Puth – Done For Me (ft. Kehlani)
This neon-lit 80’s inspired hit is full of colour and major style moments, but for the most part, Kehlani manages to take centre stage in a head-to-toe black ensemble. For a night out, try a top with peekaboo detail instead of a chainmail top to break up the monotony of this all-black outfit.
Kehlani – Distraction:
Kehlani’s been serving us monochromatic outfit inspiration way before it became a major trend. We particularly love her sequined halter and baggy bottom combination for its understated tonal layering. We recreated the look in red, a hot favourite for tonal layering this season.
